Paperwork on project to be submitted to PM
Some 1,000 residential units will be developed in Taman Tun Sardon in Penang in the next few years. Bukit Gelugor Umno division chairman Senator Datuk Omar Faudzar said recently:
“The two blocks belonging to the Home Ministry which used to be occupied by the police are now in a dilapidated state and have become a haunt for drug addicts. “The blocks will be demolished to make way for a block of 193 units and preference will be given to children of the current residents at Taman Tun Sardon,” he said at the launching ceremony of repainting and drainage repair works at 27 flats in Taman Tun Sardon. Omar said the paperwork on the project would be presented by Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in about three months’ trime. “Once it is endorsed, the project can kick off next year,” he added. State executive councilor and Bukit Delima assemblyman Datuk Koay Kar Huah said the Federal Government had approved RM1.78mil for the repainting and drainage repair works at the flats. Encik Norshah, JKKK Taman Tun Sardon chairman, thanked Datuk Koay for his help in getting three Ministers from Housing, Health and Transportation to visit Taman Tun Sardon in June this year and Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting has approved the funding.
