A DETAILED community healthcare and awareness programme will be introduced in Seri Delima, Penang, before year-end. Its assemblyman Datuk Koay Kar Huah said 10,000 to 20,000 Seri Delima residents would benefit from the programme. “This programme will target those above 50 years old. We want to help motivate them to ne more health conscious,” he said. He said that Rukun Tetangga sectors in Taman Guan Joo Seng, Island Glades, Island Park, Minden Heights, Gelugor and Taman Tun Sardon would be involved in the programme. “We will setup special teams made up of Rukun Tetangga members, my service team and hospital personnel. “The teams will visit every home, especially those with people above 50 years old to check on their health, keep track of their records and make sure they go for treatment if necessary. “It is our aim to make Seri Delima the healthiest constituency in Penang,” he said. He added that the programme was in the process of being drawn up. Koay was speaking at the launching of Seri Delima Health Camp at Taman Guan Joo Seng Rukun Tetannga activity centre in Green Lane on Sunday. Held for the first time at Taman Guan Joo Seng, the camp offere residents free blood and bone density tests.
